Steve Brophy | Creative Director/Copywriter


As a Copywriter and Creative Director of twenty-five years, I have a passion for great ideas, creative problem solving, and pride in my copywriting skills. My outgoing personality helps me excel at client presentations, supervisory situations, and collaborating across departments.

By starting my working life as a graphic designer and Art Director myself, I collaborate well with Art Directors and developers. My experience in general branding advertising, direct mail, and DRTV, along with interactive advertising and writing web content, gives me extensive experience across all media.

Career Highlights:

  • As Creative Director, helped a small Saatchi & Saatchi agency, Cadwell Davis Partners, grow from six to sixty-five million in billings in seven years.

  • Instrumental in building the Strategic Interactive Group at Digitas, their first interactive group, helping Digitas become one of the premier interactive agencies in the world. In the words of the CEO: “Steve helped improve the creative product tenfold.” I still consult with this world-class digital agency today.

  • Created and produced one of the most successful branding campaigns in J&J history for the Reach toothbrush. Rolled out worldwide and translated into seven languages.

  • Became employee #100 at the famed TBWA, the creative advertising powerhouse.

  • Was hired and worked under some of the greatest creative minds in the advertising business such as Roy Grace, Helmut Krone, and Bob Levenson at the famed Doyle Dane Bernbach. And won the coveted One Show Silver Pencil my first year in the business.

  • Won numerous awards throughout the years: The One Show, Silver Pencil; National Addy Awards, numerous years; Regional Addy, numerous years; Art Directors Annual, numerous years; CLIO and CEBA Awards.

2023 | Digitas/Creative Consultancy/Freelance

As a senior copywriter, continued my 20-year relationship with Digitas and their clients IBM and AMEX. Also, as co-developer of the WindoTrader futures trading platform, continued my work supervising all marketing for the product including webinar instruction.

2022 | Publicis/Digitas/Group Connect, Boston/Senior Copywriter

Senior copywriter for Bank of America interactive advertising and website. Merrill Financial Services digital advertising campaign.

2021 | Akamai Technologies/Creative Consultancy/Freelance

Content strategist and copywriter for Akamai security, cloud delivery, and performance solutions. Also, was a Co-developer of WindoTrader futures trading platform supervising all marketing and hosting instructional webinars on trading.

Fjord digital group: new product launch and website for "Entirely" a new business insurance product from Berkshire Hathaway

Created a new interactive campaign, a breakthrough in its category, for DDoS cyber-attack protection, domain name registration, and fraud protection. The result was a record year in sales for the company.

New website for EverMarket Exchange Marketplace, interactive advertising for Southwest Barbecue and H-E-B Regional Supermarkets.

2013 | The Hartford, Hartford, CT/Assistant Corporate Director and Director of Copy, Enterprise Marketing

Directed and supervised a staff of six, in partnership with the Creative Director, to create marketing and advertising efforts for all divisions of The Hartford: fire, flood, and auto insurance plus financial and investment products and all internal corporate communications.
